Paula Weninger Counselling and Psychotherapy

Online and Outdoor Therapy based in Aberystwyth, West Wales

Hello and welcome! My name is Paula and I offer short and long-term therapy, currently online to clients anywhere, or outdoors to clients based in Aberystwyth and surrounding areas.

My pronouns are she/her.

I can offer sessions in both English and German.

I provide therapy that's collaborative, authentic, inclusive, warm and thought-provoking. Most importantly, I provide a safe space where we can think, feel and explore together.

Please feel free to browse my website and get in touch if you think we would be a good fit or if you have any questions.

You can also find me on Instagram as @guilty_conscience_therapy.

I look forward to connecting with you!

Me, Paula, a white woman with her hair tied back, is smiling into the camera.

My Approach

Integrative

I don’t have a set/rigid way of working but tailor my approach to what you need.

Most importantly, I provide a safe space where we can think together. I will listen without judgment and together we will look at what isn’t working for you right now.

Sometimes it can be hard to identify what exactly is holding us back, I see my role in helping you identify and address these issues/challenges and support you to face and overcome these.

Trauma-informed

Trauma can have a big effect on how we feel about ourselves and the way we interact with those around us. You might have feelings of shame as a result of trauma and find it difficult to regulate your emotions. Trauma therapy is about healing those parts of you that have been hurt and helping you get to a point where you feel in control again.

Feeling safe is so important. It’s not about recounting in detail what happened to you, but about how it affected you. We will always work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Inclusive

I welcome people of all backgrounds and identities and strive to provide an anti-oppressive practice.

I think it's important not to individualise our problems but take into account how we are shaped by our circumstances and the society we're a part of.

This includes recognising the inherent position of power and privilege I hold as a counsellor in the therapy relationship and in ensuring that we work together as equals. You are always the expert of your experiences.

Authentic

I don't believe in hiding behind a professional facade, I think connections are much deeper and better when you get to experience me as I am.

I bring my humour and emotions into the room, because I am human, just like you. I always do this in a way that helps us connect and never in a way that makes it about me.
